Additional learning support
At our school, every student has a Personalised Learning and Support Plan (PLaSP) that reflects their individual strengths, needs, and goals. These plans are developed collaboratively with teachers, families, therapists, and other key stakeholders to ensure that every aspect of a student’s learning is understood and supported.
Placing each student at the centre of the planning process promotes genuine student voice and agency. Through the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and inclusive practices, students are encouraged to share their preferences, make choices, and actively participate in setting and reviewing their own goals. This collaborative approach ensures that every learner is valued, heard, and supported to achieve success in their own way.
Support that fits your child's needs
Some students need extra support to feel confident and do their best at school. We work closely with families to make support plans and adjustments that suits each child’s needs.
Additional learning support can include:
- highly individualised teaching and learning programs to meet each learner where they are at in their education journey
- specialist support for students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D)
- providing tailored programs to help high potential and gifted students with their advanced learning needs
-
evidence-based programs in literacy and numeracy for students with complex learning and communication needs
-
regular Planning and Review Meetings to revise and update the planned supports
-
changes to the classrooms:
- accessible classrooms and alternative learning spaces
- assistive technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication supports
- instructional resources that are highly customised to meet the needs of each individual
We know when a student needs help when:
- teachers notice changes in learning or behaviour
- reviewing assessment results and learning progress
- parents and carers raise concerns or ask for support.
Adjustments are planned with parents and carers. They are reviewed regularly and updated as needed. If you think your child may need extra help, contact us.
